The UCC family has 28 coffee roasteries globally, with 11 in Europe. We're proud to have two of them ourselves, right here in the UK. Whether it's a small or large batch, we pay attention to every detail throughout the process to ensure we produce the best taste in every single coffee. No exceptions.
Both coffee roasteries are controlled by state-of-the-art programming. This gives us consistency in all our roasts, and allows our experienced roasting team to make batch-by-batch adjustments and respond to the factors which can alter the outcome of the roast. This includes the condition of the green coffee, roastery temperature, humidity and air pressure - all crucially important to the taste of the coffee.
Dartford: commercial roastery
Our roastery in Dartford is Europe's largest, producing over 8,000 tonnes of coffee each year. Our star is our hot fluid airbed roaster, which has the capacity to roast 80kg of green coffee in four to eight minutes. This roasting process gives us the ability to roast commercial coffees, own label and roast and ground coffee for some of the UK's best known retailers.
Corby: specialist roastery
Our second roastery in Corby completes our roasting capability. Here, we freshly roast artisan coffees on a weekly basis using our state-of-the-art Diedrich drum roaster. It takes us 12 to 15 minutes to roast 80kg of green coffee.
